Making Animated Glitters with Image Ready CS2
Written by: Pup | This tutorial should help you learn how to make and animate your own glitters using two of my favorite programs - Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Image Ready!
  Mxx Digg StumbleUpon

First, open the image you would like to glitter in Adobe Photoshop. I will be using this one:
Image Copyright Neopets, Inc.

Next, duplicate your layer by going to Layers>>Duplicate Layer. With your new layer selected, choose the Magic Wand tool from your tool palette. Select the areas of your image that you want glittered. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard to select multiple areas.

After making your selction(s), go to Filter>>Noise>>Add Noise. You want to use a small number for this first layer; I recommend using a number between 20 and 30. Make sure your settings are the same as mine; shown below.

Create another new layer, and add noise again, this time adding 30% (or 10% more than you added last time). Create another new layer once again, this time with 40% (or 10% more than you added last time).

You should now have three layers; if you have a background layer, then delete it as you won't be needing it.

Now, jump to Image Ready by holding down Ctrl + Shift + M (Command + Shift + M for Macs). This is where the animation begins!

This part can be difficult for some people so please read all of the instructions carefully.
At the bottom of your new screen, you will see a window with three tabs.
Make sure the Animation tab is open. To open the animation tab go to Window>>Animation.
Duplicate your current frame three times using the small sticky note icon at the bottom of that window.
()
Now, go back to the first frame and look at your layers palette.
Click the little eye icon next to each layer EXCEPT the first and last layers.
Now, select the second frame and click the little eye icon next to each layer except the first and third layers.
Finally, select the third frame and click the little eye icon next to each layer except the first and second layers.

To finally animate, click the 'play' icon at the bottom of the Animation window. If you don't like the speed of your glitter, click 'stop' and press and hold Ctrl (Command for Macs) and select the frames in the animation pallette.. Then click the arrow next to 0 sec. and choose the speed you like.

To save your image, go to File>>Save Optimized.

This tutorial can be used to glitter names, icons, etc. Here is my final image:

Adobe doesn't give out Photoshop for free. Not what I've heard.
